Page 1: Participant Information Sheet

Introduction:

You are being asked to take part in a research survey of your understanding and perception of the Scottish rainforest and the implications of this understanding and perception on the conservation of the Scottish rainforest. Stakeholders included in this survey include the public, emerging work force involved with land management and the current/past workforce involved with land management.

The results of this survey will be used within a BSc Honours dissertation project completed by the researcher, Douglas Gunn under the supervision of Dr Carly Maynard, lecturer in Environmental Management, SRUC as part of the BSc Honours Environmental Management programme prescribed by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and The University of Edinburgh.

What will happen:

In this survey, you will be asked to answer a series of questions pertaining to your background, understanding and perception of conservation, and your understanding and perception of the Scottish rainforest.

Your answers will then be collated with those of the other participants engaging with the survey and it will be ascertained whether there is a relationship between stakeholder backgrounds and their understanding and perception of conservation and the Scottish rainforest, what these perceptions and understandings are, and what impact these perceptions and understandings have on the conservation of the Scottish rainforest.

It is likely it will take 10-20 minutes to complete the survey.

As part of your participation, you will be asked to complete a consent form allowing the researcher to ask you a series of questions and use the data you provide as part of the research study.
